It’s 100% correct that we are the cause of everything that happens in our life. Our situation is completely our own making.
Most people love to take credit for the good parts and suggest that they are the cause of all the good in their life, but absolve themselves of responsibility when their financial situation isn’t good, when their environment is negative or when they don’t get things their way.
If you’re willing to take credit when it’s good, take credit when it’s bad!
The only difference here is in a matter of choice. We are always at the cause – but we CHOOSE to give that power to someone or something else.
You’ll gradually grow in your sense of responsibility and decide more and more to be the cause rather than the victim. The more you do this the more control you’ll have over your environment.
Signs that you’re not at the cause are “symptom thoughts”, these are ways of dealing with situations that assume the situation must stay the same.
Take a guy who’s surrounded by negative people, his thought process goes something like this, “Everyone is negative, how do I deal with it? How do I cope? How can I manage?”, rather than “Do I want to be in this situation? Should I choose to leave?”.
Taking control of your life and deciding to assume responsibility as the cause of everything you have (or lack) in your life is the first step to getting what you really want.
Until you take that step you’re nothing more than a leaf in the wind, dragged around, hopeful that he’ll occasionally land on fertile ground but more often than not disappointed that the wind didn’t quite blow the way you wanted.
Start asking yourself root level questions by being skeptical and critical of everything you have in your life. You can choose to change your life’s structure, not just work inside it.
